Amarilis Beltré taking a Master’s degree at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain

Amarilis Beltré Méndez, Head of Customer Service in our Lincoln Library, won a scholarship to take a Master’s Degree in Library and Digital Information Services at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain, granted by the Dominican Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT, for its name in Spanish).

Ms. Beltré has worked in Lincoln Library since the year 2003, and will be back by the end of the year 2011, when all of our patrons will benefit from her new skills and knowledge.

Lincoln Library’s Online Catalogue

We have installed the new 6.1 version of ALEXANDRIA, the software we use to render all of our services. There are many new advantages in this new version, such as: Document reservation and review of loan history.  The online catalogue 2.0 or WebOPAC, like in previous versions, allows for searches by author, title, subject or key words.

We invite all of our users to take advantage of these features in Alexandria, in order to get a better service from us.

New Staff at Lincoln Library and the Center for Audiovisual Resources

In order to offer a better service, we have added new members to our team, among which we can mention, Karin Urquiola (Head of Customer Service), Jose Mendoza (Head of the Center for Audiovisual Resources), Christian Campusano (Auxiliary), Omar Rodriguez (Auxiliary), Adría Ramírez and  Kismely Peña  (Reference at the Reading Section and the Children’s Section respectively).
This staff was selected because of their competencies and motivation to assist in a personalized and enthusiastic way in both dependencies.

Time Extension for Document Loan

We have drafted new policies that include late fees for loaned materials that are not returned within the loan period established at the moment of the loan.
Patrons can apply for a loan renewal if they need more time to conclude their reading. This can be done by sending a message to: circulación@icda.edu.do o blincoln@icde.edu.do or by leaving a voice message at: 809-535-0665 Ext. 3602/3603.
