he Lincoln Library (BL) of the Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano (ICDA) has a mission to provide information and documentation services to professors, students, and employees of the ICDA, as well as a diverse community of users who have made it their own for decades.

The BL has two branches located on the main ICDA campus: the main reading room situated in the cultural complex and the children’s section located within the Domínico Americano School (DAS) facilities.

History

Founded in 1962, the library has spent nearly seven decades adapting its mission to the needs of its internal and external user community. In its early years, the library’s collection consisted mainly of reference books for consultation by the cultural department of the U.S. information service, along with works on American culture that were of interest to the local user community.

After being closed for two years, it reopened its doors in 1995 to serve the ICDA schools: Domínico Americano School (DAS), the Language School (EDI), the Higher Technical School (ETS), and, since March 2001, the Domínico Americano University (UNICDA).

In 2018, with sponsorship from the U.S. Embassy, the BL inaugurated a completely renovated room following the guidelines of the American Spaces outlined by the Smithsonian. The BL continues to be a preferred resource for a diverse population that values its philosophy of service orientation and community accessibility.
